OPEN: Call for proposals 2010 SEED Awards

SEED’s first country pilot in South Africa
Financed by the EU, SEED launches its first country pilot in South Africa to bring the idea of SEED and the benefits of a Green Economy closer to South African policy makers and businesses. The aim is to create a national community of successful social and environmental entrepreneurs to increase business opportunities and encourage more businesses to integrate social and environmental benefits into their business model. It will also allow for deeper insights into the opportunities and challenges presented to such start-up entrepreneurs while showcasing the benefits green economy can bring. Read more…

SEED support and tools

The entrepreneurs’ toolkit is launched
The Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC), the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) and the SEED Initiative
have recently launched the Toolkit at the GLOBE International Conference & Trade Fair on Business and the Environment in Canada. In the form of a wiki, entrepreneurs can get information or share their knowledge about a whole range of issues relating to social and environmental enterprise. SRI Global Marketing Partnership, one of the 2005 SEED award winners, has become the catalyst for an international enterprise, exporting many tons of certified organic and fair trade rice grown by small farm families. Read more…

New Partnerships for 2007 SEED Winner “Nueva Vida”
“Nueva Vida” (New Life), a 2007 SEED Winner based in the Ecuadorian Andes and re-introducing native Andean agricultural crops, over the last years has managed to expand and built new partnerships. Click here

2009 SEED winner from the Cook Islands expands to Africa and Asia
‘Innovative fish and algae aqua-farming’ in the Cook Islands, a 2009 SEED Winner that co-farms fish with shellfish and micro-algae in inland ponds, is replicating its activities in Nigeria and Pakistan. Read more…

SEED in Tällberg

SEED’s Executive Director attends the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN) in Bamako, Mali
SEED’s Executive Director joined the 12th session of the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN) in Bamako, Mali on 20-25 June), where she launched the 2010 Awards for entrepreneurship in sustainable development during a UNEP-hosted event on the green economy at AMCEN.
UN Commission on Sustainable Development 18 (CSD 18)
SEED’s Executive Director travelled to New York in May to attend CSD 18. Jointly with IISD, SEED conducted an event at the Partnerships Fair.
